What Is the Teacher Challenge? 
The Teacher Challenge is a competition for educators who teach energy-related topics. The competition was created to encourage collegiality among teachers and to give teachers an opportunity to share quality educational materials. To become finalists and compete in the Teacher Challenge, teachers must first submit a lesson plan that demonstrates how they teach about energy. 
Who May Enter the Teacher Challenge? 
Educators from K-12 schools, science and nature centers, museums, or other informal teaching venue. For the 2007-2008 school year, educators must teach in one of the competition regions below:

How to Enter  
  1. Download an entry form.
  2. Submit your entry form, a letter of recommendation from your supervisor, and a lesson plan that demonstrates how you teach an energy-related topic.
  3. Finalists will be selected on the basis of lesson-plan creativity and methods to compete in the Con Edison Teacher Challenge.
  4. The challenge consists of team-based activities that call on your teaching ingenuity.
  5. Four teachers and their schools will win cash prizes.
 

First-Place Winner Receives:
$500 to teacher + $500 to institution

Second-Place Winner Receives:
$400 to teacher + $400 to institution

Third- and Fourth-Place Winners Receive:
$300 to teacher + $300 to institution
